IYD: It Is Time To Empower Our Youth With Skills Enough Of The Peanut Given - DG CONYSSA Tells Nigerians

International Youth Day is an annual event that occurs on August 12th. The occasion is intended to raise awareness and drive action on a range of issues affecting youth globally.

Youth are not the leaders of tomorrow, they are the changemakers of today and warrant an equal say.

The Director General Coalition of Nigeria Youth on Security and Safety Affairs CONYSSA Amb. Ade Mario Emmanuel noted this in a statement he signed and made available to journalists on Saturday in Ondo

Amb.Mario said to challenge the status quo and deliver the kind of empowerment that will bring transformational change, young people need access to skills and jobs, as well as representation in formal decision-making spaces, to harness the power and influence over our lives and our shared future. This can only be achieved through a coherent multistakeholder approach that rectifies systemic inequalities and expands opportunities for all.
The DG implore the government to see need for guinea youth empowerment and not the peanut given.

He added that Youths are always at the receiving end in every form of violence for instance in today’s insecurities, young people suffer disproportionately and recover slower than other age groups

While cautioning the youth, the DG said
"why will you choose to die because of diet? Why will you allow your intelligence be turned to foolishness because of food? Don't be a fool because of food. Poverty will never leave the abode of the man that refuses to think with his head but rather his stomach; the unfortunate think with the condition of their stomach while the successful use their brain."

Calling on our leaders, Mario said,
"if all you can do is to train up the youth with the attitude of giving peanuts to gain their dutiful right for your own selfish benefit, you are then not worth to be called progenitors because as you can see, strangers are using this same strategy to cart away our treasures and unknowingly to the youths they are partners in crime because they have been trained not to know how to say NO!"

He tasked the youth to stop hiding under deliberate empowerment but should concentrate on empowerment that will make them be at liberty to make decision and policy that will benefit them

While urging the government and security bodies, he said more recognition and support are needed for youth-led organizations especially Coalition of Nigeria Youth on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA),as CONYSSA will help complement national security as well as bring about inclusive and diverse youth engagement

"I wish all the vibrant and dynamic youth a very happy international youth day! May your passion and energy continue to shape a brighter future." Said Mario DG CONYSSA.
